Specially considering you become the new leader of the Institute after Father dies, so as far as head-canon goes, you could lead the institute into a better future, making them more open to the outside world even. And, despite some misguided intentions, it always felt like destroying the Institute was such a waste. During my first playthrough I sided with the BoS for roleplaying purposes (I mean, the PC is a vet.) and then with the Institute because I wanted to see more of their side of the story.
I'm doing another playthrough of Fallout 4 - this time with all the DLC - and for the first time I'm siding with the Railroad. And why is the Institute the correct one? /jk.
